SELF-PORTRAITS
In my final year in photo school, I found that I really liked the look of long-exposure and multiple-exposure shots. I was also going through an emotional time and wanted to express my feelings in my photography. I wanted a model to photograph, and not feeling comfortable with directing people to move in certain ways, I ended up setting up my tripod and posing for myself. I would often go up into the woods surrounding town and find broken down abandoned houses to shoot in and around. Usually, I didn’t show my face in these photographs. The ones where I did show my face came at a later period, when I was more comfortable showing my work to my fellow classmates each week. Taking these self-portraits really was very cathartic.
