To be a strong soul
To become so bold.
My inner fear will not allow
I am filled with such self-doubt.

To be allowed to be myself
I look to others for guidance and help.
I shall promise myself to be
Truthful to my heart, honest and happy.

I cannot feel for something such
That is just beyond my touch.
I cannot hope for things that are not
And I should not sit and ponder it.
I cannot long for someone who doesn’t exist.
There fore, being in love, I shall resist.
