A RACE FAN
Sept. 4, 2000
Standing in a line waiting for a chance.
To show my support; to grace you with thanks.
For it is every weekend you go out and drive.
It is a sport that NASCAR fans will keep alive.
Each of us shares a common enthusiasm.
And even greater thrill comes when we get to meet one
There is a lot of publicity that goes with your job
And to us fans, meeting you in person, we all love
We wait in line 'til our turn comes
We share race moments and discuss where we're from
We have stood for hours, wanting an autograph
And many take that to the extreme, while others settle
for a photograph.
Being a NASCAR driver you have respectability
And along with that a lot of responsibility
I myself can see you in the spotlight and appreciate
The hours you spend on the track and yet to the fans
you relate.
I don't know how the other fans feel out there
But I'm glad I met you and your thoughtfulness you shared.
