The Prydain Chronicles are a series of books by Lloyd Alexander. They are my favorite books. (With the exception of the Star Wars books (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes BAck, and Return of the Jedi, and The Phantom Mencace)

I really don't want to give the story away, so I won't say too much about what happens (in case you want to read them...I highly recommend them). It is a fantasy and adventure. The main character is a boy named Taran who knows nothing about his parents. He lives with an old wise guy named Dalben. He will go on several adventures and make a lot of discoveries throughout the book. It's an ongoing thing like Star Wars is, so something that happens in the first book will become important later one.
Also, the Chronicles of Prydain are one of the 3 things that make up the Internet Story (although it's mostly Star Wars.) Some of the characters and things were taken from them...such as the Sword.
The reason I'm not telling you much about it is because I don't want to ruin them for you. I hate it when people give the endings of books away and things.
