Annabella is one of several numena, created by a long
dead artisan, who was gifted with a touch of the fae,
and able from his very pallet to bring to life those
creatures he painted...setting his imagination free.
Her painting resides in the Rivendell Inn, hanging in
a shadowed corner, and forgotten, quite dusty with
age. 'Tis a beautiful work, really, depicting what
some would call a water nymph...she sits quietly upon
a large boulder that is partially submersed in the
swiftly moving creek that travels just beneath the
Inn's terrace balcony....her feet dangle in the
water, indeed it seems almost to rise up to caress
her lovely legs, as she stares up wistfully at a
silvery moon, heavy in the night sky.
Though she knows how she came to be, she is unaware
of any others like her...and since her creator's
death, quite skittish and shy around people. Content
and quite comfortable to live out of doors, as she
has always done....she lingers now and again about
the Inn, wondering of those she sees inside...
Her fondest wish is to be real....she dreams of a
time, when she too, like the others she watches so
curiously, will have a soul, and feel the red crow
beating fiercely in her chest. It frightens her to
believe that might never be....
Not being real, she does not bleed and does not
age...the painting holds the key to her existance.
With a mere thought she can disappear, reappearing in
front of her painting....it acts as a portal.
