NICHOLE AND CHARLIE'S LITTLE BUNDLE OF JOY

Well... where oh where shall I begin? I suppose way back at the beginning...

Me and Charlie met each other in January of 1998, and in October of 1998 decided that we wanted to start trying for a baby. I had been on the Depo-Provera shot and ended it in October and the nurses had told me it usually takes anywhere from 6 months to a year for women to become pregnant after discontinuing that shot. We had already decided that we were going to get married sometime soon so we didn't think that getting pregnant at that time would be a problem. We had no clue what life had in store for us...

In December I received my engagement ring from Charlie for Christmas and we were married on February 18, 1999. We moved into a small one-bedroom apartment in Palmyra, Pennsylvania that had an attic that we were planning to change into a bedroom once I got pregnant. In April of 1999, I had gotten pregnant...up until that time we were kinda getting worried because we weren't using any contraception and absolutely nothing was happening. Unfortunately, I was 5 weeks pregnant when I miscarried. Doctors gave me no explanations, just sent me home with a packet of papers trying to explain why miscarriages happen- that miscarriages aren't necessarily anyone's fault. My mother seems to think that something would have been wrong with that baby would it had been born and I believe everything happens for a reason. God musta known that although we emotionally wanted to have a child, financially.... we were a little strapped.

In July 1999, we moved from our little apartment to a nice, 2-bedroom house in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. We figured, should I get pregnant again, the baby obviously needed its own room and we were sick of throwing away rent money on a place we couldn't do anything with. The months went by..and still no pregnancy. Me and my husband's marriage was beginning to suffer because we both thought that the other one was the cause of us not getting pregnant and I was getting frustrated. That 'time of the month' was a time when noone wanted to get near me-I just cried because I wanted a baby that bad. Me and Charlie finally talked it over and in September I called my insurance company and found out what they would cover in terms of infertility treatments for myself and my husband and made an appointment for me with an infertility specialist to get checked out in December. The agreement between me and Charlie was that if I checked out "OK".. then it was his turn to get checked out...

On 9/27/99 (a date I shall always remember) I got hired at the Pennsylvania Employee Benefits Trust Fund where I handled all the state worker's health insurance policies. That night me and Charlie went shopping and stopped by the ovulation predictors in our local store. We had attempted to use these predicotrs before, but had never gotten a 'positive' result. So I bought a kit- it had 5 tests in and a bonus pregnancy test. That night I started testing... and got a positive on the first try. The test is designed to tell you 24-48 hours in advance when you are most likely to begin ovulating so you can time making love in order to get pregnant. Needless to say.. I am now pregnant with our first child who is due on June 20, 2000.

UPDATE: Madison Nicole was born on June 21st, 2000 at Hershey Medical Center weighing 7 pounds 10.9 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.

I am going to be adding pictures as I get them scanned so please check back every now and then to see my little angel :)

*First sonogram done of our baby on 11/3/1999*
