Betrayal

Oh how I loved you!
The sacrifices I'd have made
just to be by your side;
why then was I betrayed?

You of all people-
how could this be?
I was so sure
of the love you'd promised me.

I thought it was strong enough
to withstand all the pressure,
but this 'd only started
when you took back my treasure.

Where does that leave me?
What now must I do
with a life not worth living
if it's lived without you..

What happens to our dreams;
the plans that we made-
our future together..
is this how I'm repaid?

Or could I've misjudged you;
was I wrong then to believe
your words, reassuring,
but meant to deceive?

No! Whatever may have happened,
our love was never a lie!
I will treasure it and remember you
till the very day I die, my darling, goodbye.
