~Mindsong~

You were the moon-I was the sun--
in ages past our souls were one,
we traversed an ethereal night-
forever bound, through aeons bright.
I remember--

You are the missing part of me~
A union ageless as the sea~
The sense of loss is at an end,
we come together once again,
And remember~

~A Song Intended~

How little all the words would mean
if hope had not designed them.
The words are given but to dream,
and need the pain to bind them.

My minstrel sings, therefore I write
all that his song intended.
Without his song, there is no light,
and all the words are ended.

~A Different Way~

Reality exists in dreams,
in fantasy and written word.
There are so many ways and means
which reach beyond the seen and heard.

Awareness and perception
create a curious need to know~
from the questings' first inception,
reality begins to grow.

This place within the mind
is of the being- therefore is.
I seek existence more defined,
and with your help, I learn to live.

~On Silver Wings~

On silver wings, the shadows of the day
hasten toward the dark and fade away.
A song remembered only from a dream
unfolds the plaintive notes of love redeemed.
I answer in the silent, twilight mist~
My heart, my mind, my soul will not resist.

~Falling~

The song bursts forth within my brain-
touching my soul with it's existing,
Solitary, and immense as pain-
It's presence wanting and insisting.

The sweetness of a hopeless cause,
A dream's fulfillment, out of reaching.
A rainbow just beyond my grasp-
Forbidden joy of love beseeching.

I love you, though in thought alone,
My whole self aches for love's dependence.
What should have been hope's joyful song,
suppressed into a mournful cadence.

~Let Passion Live~

I know the magic in the mind,
that spans the star-lit dark of night.
Your song compels, through space and time,
I feel the passion~ burning bright~
Thus the soul has been invaded,
sing of joy that love can give.
Cause the mind to be persuaded~
on this night, let passion live.

~Summer Days~

Summer days have come and gone,
still, this love we own goes on,
change and growth are only of the mind.

Poems I write reflect my thoughts
and the meanings you have taught.
All the hopes I've had to leave behind.

Yet, in spite of what I know,
the feelings still remain and grow,
becoming more connected and defined.

~Ties That Bind~

I keep within this heart of mine,
a song of hope that will not die.
Unwarranted by tide or time,
ethereal as love's first sigh.

I reach beyond a factual base
to find the feel of ties that bind.
A bond that we cannot erase,
born of the heart and soul and mind.

~Denizens of Fate~

I think I will reiterate~
Expound on denizens of fate,
who sound the fluted melody
projecting mind-sprung fantasy.

Creating sight of visions bright
of shades of love, which haunt the night~
of mutual perspicacity~
awareness, and the need to be
free of the need to hesitate
or to deny, or sublimate.

~Song~

You are a song,
sung quietly.
no one can hear
the song, but me.
You play a chord,
that touched
my mind.
I must respond
to you in kind.
There is no choice,
no other way.
I need to hear
the song
you play.

~For I Belong~

In your mind exists the place
of gentler persuasion.
Beyond expression born to face
a world of discontent.

Reality has grown inside
a web of soft dissuasion.
Your soul enveloped safely
from all critical intent.

I know this place,for I belong,
beyond the self-protection.
I hear the souls' eternal song,
and seek honest reception.

~A Shadow Follows~

A shadow follows close, in bleeding silence.
I cannot find the words to make it fade.
Nor can I find the light to give it substance.
Yet, it is~ my mind will not dissuade.

A shadow follows, offering illusion.
Conveying hope with soundless energy.
Proscribing needs~ disguised with bright confusion,
I cannot find the courage to be free.

~Growing~

And yet, it was a simple song,
the only one that childhood knew.
It told of needing to belong,
and all the deeds that he would do.
All of the places yet to see,
the journeys that his mind would find.
The man which he would, someday, be.
His need to care and to be kind.

~Seek a Dream~

Oh heart, what mystery doth thou intend?
Weep still, for suff'ring of the heavy-laden.
But only to thine own, thou dost defend~
Perchance, forgive the soul a love forbaden.

Oh heart, what fantasy dost this mind spend?
Weep still, for love may leave thy soul unguarded.
Perchance, to seek a dream and truth befriend,
and journey toward the light which truth imparted.

Kaitlyn Kiri ~1999

~Mind-born Bonds~

My heart possesses calm futility.
Acceptance that my dream has died at birth.
The knowledge that you cannot share with me~
any hope, of value, on this earth.

A wider range of hope becomes my guide,
I seek a far less tangible compense~
and hope my hurting soul is satisfied
With mind-born bonds which keep no mortal sense.
