Is Not Enough, The
Xanudu
This soundtrack has the score of the
movie. The haunting and melancholy
melodies are wonderful. I don’t
often buy score soundtracks, but this music just touched me and enhanced the
movie immensely. When that happens
for me, I buy the soundtrack. This
was the case with Braveheart, Cousins, Dragonheart, Edward Scissorhands, Ever
After, Somewhere In Time, Titanic, Untamed Heart, and The World Is Not Enough
as well.
I bought this soundtrack for the touching Aerosmith ballad, “I Don’t Want
To Miss A Thing.” If you saw the
video, you know what I’m talking about.
In the movie, they only play it while Liv Tyler is with Ben
Affleck. The video puts it in the
father/daughter context and just broke my heart when I saw it. Therefore, had to buy the CD. Other good songs on the CD are “Sweet
Emotion” and “Come Together” by Aerosmith and “Leaving On A Jet Plane” by Chantal
Kreviazu.
This is one of Christian Slater’s best movies. I loved the songs in the film, so I bought the CD. If you are looking for Jann Arden’s
song “Insensitive,” you are out of luck: it’s not on the soundtrack. The song is available on her CD Living
Under June. Also, as a bonus
on the DVD, you get the “Insensitive” video. The soundtrack is still worth picking up. The song “Independent Love Song” by
Scarlet is awesome. It’s about
having the courage to stand up and say “this is what I want and if you want me
that’s what I’m going to need.” There
is a sweet song (no pun intended) by Sarah McLachlan called “Ice Cream.” Just to give you an idea, a sample
lyric is “your love is better than ice cream…” There is also “Nervous Heart” by The Borrowers that I
love. It’s about the problems we
have opening ourselves because of being afraid of being hurt. I think anybody can relate to that.
I was actually forced to buy this CD. I bought the single for the song “Foolish Games” by
Jewel. It turned out the version
on the single was not what was receiving radio play and I did not like the
version on the single or on the album.
However, the radio version was available on this soundtrack, hence this
purchase. It’s the only song I
like on the soundtrack, but it was worth it. The song is awesome.
I bought this CD for one of the most awesome anthems ever recorded: “God
Gave Rock N Roll To You II” by Kiss. The CD also features Slaughter, Winger, and Neverland. It is out of print, so you’ll have to
try a used CD store or Ebay, which is where I got my copy.
With all the big names on this soundtrack, you’d think the songs would be
better. This CD was an overall
disappointment.
This soundtrack has the score of the
movie. This movie was completely
awesome and the soundtrack perfectly fits the movie. My favorite melodies are “A Gift of Thistle,” “Wallace
Courts Murron,” and “For The Love Of A Princess,” but all the songs are
excellent. I don’t often buy score
soundtracks, but this music just touched me and enhanced the movie
immensely. When that happens for
me, I buy the soundtrack. This was
the case with The Age of Innocence, Cousins, Dragonheart, Edward Scissorhands, Ever
After, Somewhere In Time, Titanic, Untamed Heart, and The World Is Not Enough
as well.
This soundtrack has the score of the
movie. It looks like it may be out
of print now, so try a used CD store or Ebay. The love theme and waltz are absolutely magical. I don’t often buy score soundtracks, but
this music just touched me and enhanced the movie immensely. When that happens for me, I buy the
soundtrack. This was the case with
The Age of Innocence, Braveheart, Dragonheart, Edward Scissorhands, Ever After,

Hope Floats
I cannot say enough about this soundtrack. It is completely worth the full price. My favorite tracks are "Chances Are" by Bob Seger and Martina McBride, "What Makes You Stay" by Deana Carter, "When You Love Someone" by Bryan Adams, "To Make You Feel My Love" by Garth Brooks, "In Need" by Sheryl Crow, "To Get Me To You" by Lila McCann, "Smile" by Lyle Lovett, and "Stop In The Name Of Love" by Jonell Mosser.
"Chances Are" has a soaring ballad kind of quality that I just love. It is not a remake of the Johnny Mathis song. It's about meeting someone so great that even when they have cut you loose, you can't let go.
"What Makes You Stay" is the type of song that everyone can relate to because, at one time or another, we have wanted to leave but found it so hard to do.
"When You Love Someone" is that traditional type of love song that talks about what love can do to you when you finally find someone.
"To Make You Feel My Love" has a dreamy kind of quality that just endears the song to your heart. It really reminds me of the movie, which is great by the way. Who has felt like you wanted to get through to someone, tell them how you feel, but they did not seem to understand. Trisha Yearwood also has a version of this song on the CD. Garth's version opens and Trisha's closes. I thought it was a neat idea and went along with the movie very well.
"In Need" harks back to the type of music from Sheryl Crow's amazing debut album. It's about how you sometimes feel when a person seems to think they are the only ones who have been hurt before.
"To Get Me To You" is about the feelings you have when, after a lot of heartache, you have finally found true love. Lila McCann sounds a lot like LeAnn Rimes to me. Either way, it's a good song.
"Smile" is a sweet song of hope that gels well with the film. "Stop In The Name Of Love" is a soulful ballad remake of The Supremes hit.
The CD is full of songs that take you through heartache and the happiness you find when you can get past the hurt and find new love. It's the first soundtrack I have heard that truly keeps the mood of the film throughout. I just could not recommend it more.
