The Haskew Family has held reunions annually near Birmingham for more than 40 years (since the early 1950s, when the first reunion was held in Lincoln, AL), normally the second Sunday of each August. It has been organized by George and Jean Haskew in recent years. This year it was at the Trussville Community Center with around 65 attendees. All of those attending trace their lineage back to John Haskew (b. ca 1800, d. ca 1843 in Clarke County, AL) who married Susan Hendley (b. ca 1802 in South Carolina), with the majority linking to his great-grandson, the cotton speculator Mathew Woodfin Haskew who married Alberta Florence Walker. Click here for Haskew outline descendant tree.
Surnames among these descendants in addition to Haskew include Brandenburg, Bradford, Garrick, Hamilton, Hicks, Larrimore, Peacock, Ray, Stone, Till, and Walls. One of the goals for the reunion next year is to compile a book which includes as many of the family lines as possible. Please contact us with any additions you may have - all are welcome - click here to send what you have. We will also provide information on this page for other Haskew reunions as we become aware of them - e.g. a Haskew / Hasskew / Hesskew reunion in Tennessee, which we believe are descendants of Joseph/Robert Haskew.
