The Musical Tryst

She stood on the stage
just an actress
just a singer
but that's not the way my heart felt.
Her movements,
her voice,
her eyes,
lost in the musical life of the song.
I fell in love,
It shook my soul.
Her song swept me with a fire,
uncontrolled and full of desire
to burn my very spirit with passion.
I watched, and emotions poured,
laughter roared,
tears cascaded.
The last note hung in the air,
the end of an one night love affair,
as a thunderous encore sounded,
the crowd waited anxiously,
and my heart knew,
that she was just a singer,
just an actress
as she bowed and walked away.
