A Brief Biography
My name is Brian Norwood. I'll be 31 on August 4th, 2003. I'm a pretty big guy, standing 6'4" tall and hovering around the 300 lbs. mark. That is huge for those of you who can't picture that. I, of course, love football (Go Raiders) I'm dig the LA Lakers, and if pressured will admit to being a bit of a Dodgers fan.
On September 14th, 2002, in an intimate ceremony on the beaches of San Clemente, I married my beautiful wife Ann Marie, and now am happily exploring the joys of matrimony. With her came a great kid, my stepson, James Allen King, who is currently 11.
I graduated from California Baptist University where I was a Visual Arts major, with a computer emphasis. (Enter Malachi's Art Place) In addition to the Macintosh, I also enjoy painting and drawing, site works and conceptual art. I would certainly consider myself in the lineage of Marcel Duchamp, ande aknowledge the influences of Jim Dine, Richard Diebenkorn, Mark Rothko, Ron Davis and Hans Hoffman.
I feel a great responsibility being an artist. I feel it is one of the most special gifts ever given to man. It is sad that today man has made a mockery of art, and that the only art of consequence to most people is art used to make money. When people someday look back at the prevailing art of this age, they will discover money, sex, and our own selfishness is all we truly care about. I hope if you visit my art page, you see that that is not what I'm about.
In addition I am a musician. My main instrument is the Bass, (Go to Bass Zone) I also play Guitar, and Piano (in that order) I listen to a wide variety of artists. Some of my favorites include: Michael W. Smith, Weather Report, Point of Grace, Peter Gabriel (check out Peter's Real World site), Yanni, Enya, Level 42, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and one of the few Christian bands that doesn't suck, my buddies Plumbline. I also maintain a web site for one of the hardest rocking bands in the Inland Empire, Conspiracy Of Thought. Check them out at www.jointheconspiracy.com
If there is one word I'd use to describe me, it is Passionate. I feel everything very strongly. This can indeed be a mixed blessing.
I am always living and growing as a human being, and as is the case, on occassion I have said and done things I now regret. So for the official record, I have the greatest and most supportive family in the world. Thank you for believeing in me, helping me succeed, and dealing with my sometimes enormous and all to fragile ego. Any and all greatness that I might attain can be laid at the feet of my Mother and the rest of my family. Forgive me for the short-sightedness of my youth.A Word About Platypi: I LOVE Platypi! Some would even call me a platypus freak. They are unusual animals to say the least. (Although I prefer the term "alternative") I admire their uniqueness. They defy all descriptions. They are mammals, yet they lay eggs. They have the bill of a duck, the body of an otter, and the tail of a beaver. They have webbed feet for swimming. They have claws that contain a poison, but they are not aggressive. They forage the bottom of lakes for food and use their weapons only for defense. They are shy animals, prefering the seclusion of there burrows. I'm simply attracted to everything about them. Many people have animals that they use to symbolize themselves. For me, the platypus is a kindred creature.
