12/11/2000:Rant #2--Frames
I design web pages, and I dislike frames. I dislike them intensely. They're a pain in the butt to program, they take longer to load, and some browsers don't support them. Besides that, you can do many of the same things with tables as you do with frames.
The only earthly use I can find for frames is if you wanted to just program one page to tie several pages together, rather than cutting and pasting a navigation bar into a table each time. However, I think that the cutting and pasting part is actually easier and better in the long run.
To be fair, I have heard of frames being used effectively, with short load time. If anyone happens to see one of these pages, please e-mail me and send me the URL so I can have a look. Until then, I dislike frames. 'Scuse me now, I have a headache...
