Mirror
An image appeared to me in the mirror
someone other than myself
hailing from I don't know where
from China or beyond

I asked who're you
with a laughter came the answer
I'm the daughter
of the Emperor of China
I've been in love with you for a long time

I said come out
of the mirror
the thief of my image
I don't care ifI have no image
so long as
my hands can touch you
to believe that you exist.
The daughter of the Emperor of China
said
I can't come

but some day
like you I shall take your image too
into the depths ofthis mirror
and I shall disappear

Abraham
Abraham
knock down the idols in me
with the axe in your hand
who's propping new idols
to replace the broken ones?

The sun smashed my house of ice
huge blocks of ice came crashing down
breaking the necks of the idols
Abraham
who took the sun into my house?

Nebuchadnezzar turned into idols
the lovely women strolling the hanging gardens
having embraced the timeless gardens
I have kept those women to myself

Abraham
who is it that takes my heart for an idol and breaks it?

Ancient Egypt
I wonder if I sprouted from the earth like grass
Or did I lose my way sailing the seas
and how come I am forgetting the time?
Ancient Egypt can be lived if one forgets the time
I live you when I forget my self
living
means living this moment
ammon ra' hotep
or taphnit
I don't want to know who you are
but I must breathe around you
dut bu a'ru unnek pahper
kama pet kama ta
sentences I have read in old Egyptian texts

Those you and I read together were altogether different
I feel as though you are with me in a garden
as though I am there and not there
or rather I am turning into the whole garden
ceasing to be human
kama pet
karna ta
