Victoria Steen de Lancie

Character Profile

"Cheney's friend was a small-boned woman, delicate and languid, her silvery blond hair shimmering in the muted glow of the room." - Secret Place of Thunder

Meet Victoria Steen de Lancie - one of Cheney's friends. She's a beautiful woman, about Cheney's age, widowed already, and mistress of a valuable estate and business.

But Victoria was not always Cheney's friends. A lady of high fashion and breeding, shelooked down her nose at Cheney Duvall, very similar to the other ladies in the Duvall's social ring.

Cheney and Victoria first meet when Victoria comes to her secretly and not-so-subtle-y asks for an abortion, thinking she is pregnant through one of her many candlestine affairs. Upon examination, Cheney finds that Victoria is not pregnant, but instead is afflicted with ovarian tumors. She and Dev remove them, and because of the surgery, Victoria realizes she will never be able to have children.

The first impression of Victoria is that she is a spoiled, cantankerous, prideful, selfish woman who has no feelings for others. After the surgery, Cheney takes care of her and caters to her wish and whim as the healing process advances. Unlike others, Cheney put her foot down and did not Victoria rule over her and be in control. However, as Victoria's admiration for Cheney grew, Cheney was forced to go to public gatherings with Victoria and keep her company. Through this companionship, they began to form a friendship, which eventually led to Cheney presenting Victoria with the prospect of giving her life to Christ.

While Victoria tries to make a change for the better, an unseen storm is just brewing and is certain to disrupt Cheney's plans for her future.
