Staring at the Rain

When I see rain
Sliding down a pane of glass
I think of the tears rolling down my face
As you said goodbye and left
Never looking back.
You crushed my heart
A single time
And then you came back
With gentle words and sweet kisses
And I let you crush it again.
Why is it that I am so naïve
To let you back into my heart
Time and time again
Only to have it shattered once more?
You leave me to pick up the pieces
A shard pricks my finger
Leaving little pain that is gone.
So that the next time you come back
I will be gone
And it will be you left standing
Staring at the rain.
