In my new musical, Kill the Messenger!, Benedict, one of the couriers,
has just delivered the wrong message to Lady Macbeth.  She is so
furious, she vows revenge.  He flees and hides out at Doll Tearsheet's
(Falstaff's mistress) hovel.  This is the song he sings to her when
he first enters since she can't remember who the devil he is.

Fortune and Men's Eyes

Oh, Doll, my doll,,
I'm so in love what can I do?
Whenever I hear chimes at midnight
Or bells at noon,
I think of you.
When in disgrace
With fortune and men's eyes,
I see your face
And hear your loving sighs.

When in disgrace
And life turns grim and glum,
I see this place
Where I can always come.

A place of serenity
Where a fellow feels free,
And every amenity
Is waiting for me.

You are the haven
That I cherish and prize---
When in disgrace
With fortune and men's eyes.
