If It Weren't for You
How did I live before I met you?
How did I live from day to day?
Only now do I realize
That behind my disguise,
I was merely an extra
In my own little play.

If it weren't for you,
I'd pay such a price---
The weeks would be chilly,
The years would be ice.
I'd dance like a phantom
To a desolate theme---
Or a child playing baseball
With no one else on the team.
But, thank God, I have you
To care for and praise,
To laugh and to talk with
And to brighten the days.
So lovely and loving,
So young and so free---
If it weren't for you,
God knows where I'd be!
