Gambit

Gambit: Remy LeBeau was adopted by the patriarch of the New Orleans Thieves' Guild as a child. He was betrothed to Belladonna Boudreaux of the Assassins' Guild. At a meeting between the Guilds and their benefactress, Candra, a bomb went off, killing nearly everyone. He grabbed the injured Candra and left New Orleans. The two became lovers and headed west, gathering new recruits for the Thieves' Guild. Gambit can charge any object, organic or inorganic, with kinetic energy, causing them to explode.

Candra: Candra is an immortal mutant with immense telekinetic powers. She formed the Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds centuries ago, pitting them against each other to amuse herself. During the explosion that destroyed the Guilds, Candra was very seriously injured. Gambit took her to his safe-house in Oklahoma and cared for her while she healed. They fell in love, and she helped him rebuild the Thieves' Guild.

Skin: The trauma of war caused Angelo Espinosa's mutancy to develop while he was a child, starting with the changing of his skin colour. His mother, fearful of being attacked by The Right, threw him out of the house and disowning him in the process. Since then he has also grown about six extra feet of skin that he can control with amazing ability. Candra and Gambit found him in the wastelands outside of Los Angeles, and inducted him into their Guild.

Dazzler: When Carter Blaire found out his daughter was a mutant, he immediately disowned her and turned her over to the Human Resistance Movement. Alison was put into a "mutant camp", where she was regularly abused and raped. The experience scarred her almost beyond repair. She is more than a little psychotic, constantly looking for an excuse to either kill or be killed. She has the ability to transform sound into any form of light, from a soft glow to a laser beam capable of blasting through steel.

Multiple Man: Jamie Madrox has the mutant ability to create duplicates of himself upon impact. These duplicates are separate entities from Jamie, complete with their own thoughts and actions (although their personalities tend reflect some certain aspect of Jamie's). Remy and Candra found him on his family's farm in Kansas, where he had lived alone since Onslaught's supporters killed his parents.

Copycat: Vanessa Carlysle was living in Los Angeles as a thief. She used her shape-shifting ability to steal everything from food to information. The food and other supplies she would hand out to the homeless. The information she would sell to the highest bidder. It was the latter that put her on Onslaught's hit list. She was about to be executed by his soldiers when the newly formed Thieves' Guild found and saved her. She remembers almost nothing of her past, only her name.
