Chapter 2

"Time for the games to begin," Sylvia cackled to herself. "There's something about this group that gives off a strange sort of Energy. It could be a possible Lhaam. No. It's not possible. I know that there is a Lhaam among them. Now to figure out who it is…" Sylvia watched the four members of 98 Degrees perform on-stage. "Who to choose…" She smiled to herself once again. "Eenie… Meanie… Miney… Moe." Sylvia's gaze settled on the current singer. His voice soared high above the others who were singing back up. His right arm proudly bore the group's name. She turned to one of the little girls next to her. "Who is that singing right now?"

She ignored the strange look she was given and awaited the answer. "Him? That's Jeff."

"Jeff…" She let the name roll of her lips. Turning, she left her seat and exited the arena. She drove around, looking for a nice secluded spot where she could think. Not finding anything better, she spotted dark alley and parked. She left the car and breathed in the inner-city air, reveling in the stench of the homeless and poor.

As she made her way down even further into the alley, a few tough-looking guys made some catcalls to her. Sylvia looked at them, slightly annoyed at their interrupting her thoughts. She raised a hand and sent a force that knocked them into the wall behind them, knocking them out for at least an hour. Satisfied, she went deeper into the maze of alleys and passageways before finding herself completely isolated from anyone.

She settled down on the dirty, cold pavement and closed her eyes. She conjured up an image of Jeff and let herself go. From where she sat, she watched as he and the rest of the guys said good night to the crowd and then go backstage to change before hopping onto the bus the bus that would take them to the hotel. She continued to watch as Jeff settled himself down into bed and drifted off to sleep.

Quite easily, Sylvia entered his mind and wandered in and out of his dreams, playing with his head. As soon as she tired with that though, she got down to business. "So Jeff, what is your biggest fear?" she muttered to herself. Slowly, an image filled her mind. Snakes and spiders and insects roamed her mind and she smiled. "Aww. The big guy's afraid of creepy, crawly things. Well Jeff, it's time to face your fears." Sylvia left his mind and opened her eyes. Only a few hours more and the sun would rise. She anxiously waited for the time to pass.
