"You don't let me do anything! Why don't you just let me do things the way I want them done?" Amber yelled. She was having an argument with her parents, Mario and Claire. After they had married, they had Amber and she was born stubborn, with powers combined from her parents, and a very difficult temper.
"Listen honey. We're doing this for your good. Listen to us," her parents pleaded, but Amber was already out the door.
Once outside, she decided to take a walk in the park. There, she was walking around slowly when she felt someone rush up behind her. She turned around and the aura she felt coming from him was that of Nica. She started to fight but others soon joined his side and soon, they had a dark bag over her head. Not being able to see, she froze. Obviously, these people knew about her inability to fight what she could not see, and they gently took her to a car and got her inside. The car started, and after driving for a while, they stopped. They took Amber out and led her inside a cool place and took the hood off. Amber looked around and saw that Nica surrounded her. At the signal of what seemed to be the leader, they came rushing up to her and she started fighting them all. She threw Fire, flew over them, picking them up and letting them go, created Ice and Thunder to protect herself. In the midst of everything though, she stopped and surveyed the scene. Everyone she saw was on the ground moaning in pain. Still recuperating, she didn't sense another fly up behind her and give her a shock to startle her senses. As she fell toward earth, everyone around her felt better. Quickly, they restrained her in a chair, but the initial shock had worn off by then. She quickly changed form into that of a snake and slid out of the chair. The whole scene repeated itself once more, and as she hung suspended in the air surveying the scene, Robby, the same one who'd shocked her the first time, came up behind her again. He gently held her head between his hands and conjured an image into her mind. It was an image of all the ones she had killed in previous battles. They all rose from the dead and came after her. His chilling voice mixed with the cold atmosphere of the scene. "Look at your future, Amber. This is going to be you if you don't cooperate." Frightened, Amber shut herself down and slowly drifted back to earth. "She's harmless now. Watch her carefully. I don't know how long this shock will last." The others agreed and the day continued around Amber as she sat in shock.
A few days later, Amber was still in the same state of being. Robby summoned all of Nica for an experiment. Amber was placed into the center of the large hall in a booth with enough room for her to stand. Everyone witnessing attached themselves to the booth by a thin Energy strand. Robby uttered a spell and instantly, Amber started to glow, standing rigid in her confines. As soon as it had started though, it was over, and she fell to the ground, finally broken of the spell that had held her before. The booth disappeared and she found herself once again surrounded. On instinct, she started to fight with the person closest to her but to her shock, she was powerless. The others watched, laughing at her as she tried in vain to create the elements and defend herself. She let out an ear-piercing scream in frustration, realizing that her powers were lost. Nica took their chance then to try out their new powers and fought her until she lay beaten.
The next day, a bag was placed over her head and she was left on the doorstep of Mario and Claire's house. When they found their missing daughter, they cried.
One day, a letter came. It read that if they didn't surrender a member of Lhaam, the information retrieved when Amber was under a spell would be used in the next battle. Everyone tried to keep this a secret to Amber, but she finally got the information from her parents while they were doing work in the study room. In an uncharacteristic way of her, Amber spoke quietly to them. "Let me go."
"What did you say?" Mario asked.
"Let me be the one to go."
"But honey-" they began.
"No, listen to me. For once, let me do something my own way. I want to go. I'm of no use to anyone here anymore. But I'll be damned if they have me without a fight."
Only then did they realize what she was saying. It was the ultimate sacrifice for her people and unwillingly, they had to agree.
She arrived right at lunch when the dinner hall was crowded. Knowing she was still powerless, they let her in and watch them as they ate contentedly. It was a great surprise to them then, when the entire foundation the building had been built on shook and splintered, causing the walls around them to crumble. Robby turned toward Amber and saw the blank look on her face. He didn't get it at first, but then he understood. It was still possible for her to call upon the Energy that had supported her in the past and she was still young and energetic… It all made sense, but it was too late. All were buried alive.
