We've Only Just
Begun...Our Story My engagement was broken
off with my finace' (who will remain nameless), of 3 1/2 years on May 1,
1993. The wedding was set for May 22, 1993. Having no place to go, really,
I moved back to my parents house at age 23, dragging with me my 10 month
old kittens, Lucifer
(LucyDucy) and Tuxedo. Even though the engagement had been called off, I
was still this man's door mat and remained with him through February, 1994
(though, I was living in my parents house). By May of 1994, I knew I needed
to get my life back in order and start living on my own again. I started
dating a man named Jim, who was 8 years older than me and moved in with a
28 year old woman named Beth, who had just found out her finace' was cheating
on her. What a pair we were! By the summer of 1994,
I had lost my job of 2 years and was not able to find another job that
paid nearly what I had been making. Not being able to pay my half of the
rent and utilities, I had to move back to my parents by November of 1994.
Between 1990 and 1994, I had not touched a home computer; I didn't have
one. My father, however, had just purchased a Leading Edge, 386 with a
40 meg hard drive, and a modem. I started to spend alot of time on the
computer and eventually discovered a local BBS (Bulletin Board System),
where I would chat with other people and play online adventure games. This
is where I met Commo Kid. I was playing a game
called Tele-Arena in Decemeber of 1994, when I ran into an Acolyte named
Commo Kid. It was love at first "sight". We began to talk more
than play the game. I met Commo in February of 1995, at a bar/poolhall,
where the members of this BBS would gather every Saturday night. Our first
meeting is still vague to me. I was with another male friend of mine and
I was roasty, toasty drunk. I remember hearing my name being announced
over the loud speakers to please come to the front counter. I was told
there was a group of people at a certain table looking for me. I took my
happy little drunk butt over there and found out it was Commo and his friends
(other people from the BBS). That's about all I remember about that.
Exciting, huh? I was still dating
Jim, but knew it was going nowhere when, on Valentine's Day, Jim made the
statement "I don't need a commercalized holiday show someone
I care", or something along those lines. I thought I was in love with
Jim; until then. Slowly, I started drifting away from Jim and started chatting
more and more with Commo. We even exchanged phone numbers and began talking
until 3 in the morning. Sometime around March,
I met up Commo at the BBS's Saturday night gathering place. We sat and
talked until the bar closed at 2 am, then with a group of friends, went
out to breakfast down the street. Even though I was about to drop from
exhaustion, we stayed out in my car and talked some more until 5am. By
this time, I knew he was "the one". I broke it off with
Jim probably the first week of April and went out on my first offical date
with Commo somewhere around the 18th of April, 1995. We moved in together
October 15, 1995.
