We love our critters and they love us. We have included some health notes afterwards. This kitty is nicknamed Binkey after my friend Laurie's cat Binkmeyer. Binkey's real name is Sarah Bell. We think she is part Maine Coon Cat. She weighs about 13 pounds and has "magic" swirl stripes in caramel and chocolate with white stockings, one falling down, brown eyeliner, white tummy, pink nose and white ear tufts. She has a tiny meow... actually sort of a squeak. I found SB in the back yard. It's my guess that her mum dropped her off. She was about 3 or 4 inches long and solid brown. After she was fed and bathed she turned into a beautiful caramel, chocolate and white kitty! She had so many fleas, it was heartbreaking. But we hand picked them off her. You can see by her picture, that she is a very beautiful cat indeed. (Click on the left picture to see how playful she is.) Nick has taught Binky to "High Five" and stand up for treats. It is so cute! This is Rogue. She is a Maine Coon mix. She found us at the PetCo in La Canada after a long, frustrating day. She is a real sweetie. My buddy Dianne took a picture of her when we first adopted her. You can see how pretty she is. By the way, the pillow behind her is a needlepoint by my Nana. Rogue is developing quite the personality and talks to me all the time. She gives us deep, meaningful looks. Rosie is the best dog in the world. Her full name is Rosabella Tuscana d'Armanac. She adopted us from the pound in Santa Rosa which is north-west of Sonoma, California. We met her brother at Viansa Winery playing with the assistant wine maker on the terrace. (See C'est ca for more information on Viansa.) The wine maker told us he had found his puppy in Santa Rosa. So the next morning, we drove up there and found Rosie waiting for us. She is very smart, loves kids and all the neighborhood kids come over to play with her. Rosie loves to hug, stand up on her back paws and jump at the same time. She is mainly Australian Shepherd, and we were told she has some Huskey and Border Collie in her. Rosie would really like a dozen sheep to herd. Rosie can play frisbee and fetch. She also can balance a biscuit on her nose. We have a new member of the zoo named Yukon Jill, Yuki for short. She is a cream white Huskey and weighs about 100 pounds. Yes, she is quite big and except for being white looks a lot like a wolf. She has white-blue eyes. I will post a photo here as soon as I can scan one in. She was given to us by a friend who couldn't keep her. We would not have chosen a Huskey to live here because of the heat in Summers. It gets fairly cold in the winter, but not like Yuki would like it. No snow. Rosie is starting to get used to sharing life with another dog. Rosie is a very independent shepherd while Yuki is a pack dog. Two very different personalities. Just wait until we add hoses to the mix! |
