Sonnet 5
By: Jerry Landry

I stare at your body with the blinds closed
And wonder how it came to be, my dear,
That Apollo's beauty was juxtaposed
Upon your human frame lying so near.
That dark, tumbled hair, so civil yet wild,
Thine dark eyes, making their mark on my mind,
Those lips, so full and alive like a child's,
That chest, so bare yet enough for me to bind.
A god in mortal form must thou be, love,
For no man is as radiant as you.
Thus, as they say, if the hand fits the glove,
Then the truth of your nature must ensue.
_____Yet you must ascend back to heaven now
_____Smitten though I be, leave I must allow.
