Reflections on Weakness (or I Miss Alex)
Jerry Landry

1.
I don't handle alone too well.
So sue me.
I want to be with him
For him
Part of him
Every minute
Every day
Every life.
So sue me.

2.
Missing void,
I miss thee not.
You're gone because of him,
But where is he?

3.
Gnawing pain grasps
His spinal cord
And all I can do
Is complain about how much I miss
Him.

4.
Pitiful creature,
Your eyes are red.
From tears?
I've been there,
I've done that.
What is that behind you?
Oh, that's my room
My desk
My stuff
My life
Me.

5.
Sitting here, listening to me
Reflected in Ben Lee
I can't help but wonder
How sorry I am
For being so
Weak.

6.
I don't handle alone too well.
So sue me.
I miss him.
I miss me.
Is he me?
Can I ever be
Half of what he is?
Lord,
Please sue me
So I can handle alone well.
