SECOND MEETING...Dee's Story

Meeting Tom, over the 4th of July weekend was bitter sweet. Our time spent together was wonderful, but the parting was devastating for me. I kept very busy after that weekend, throwing myself into my work, gardening, cleaning the garage, you name it...Tom and I continued with our long, numerous phone calls and our computer dates, planning to meet at Christmas, six long months away. He was on my mind all the time, his slow, gentle smile, the sound of his laugh. But the Christmas meeting was not to be.

Labor Day was a long weekend, and we decided to take advantage of it. We knew there was a possibility of Northwest Airlines going on strike, but at the very worst, Tom could get to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where YumMe (Sandy) our forever friend would surely go with me to get Tom...*s*...

We made our plans, arranged the flight, and Northwest went on strike!! Next, we scrambled for alternate flights, and finally the day came. Sandy and were on our way to Minneapolis without Dave this time, as he had to work, and we again got lost, ending up exactly where we were the first trip.

Tom's flight was on time, and when he walked through the gate, I knew "home" was where he was. The relaization just flowed me, and I knew he was definitely the one.

We had a wonderful weekend, met my family, and they loved him. We took our time, relaxing, visiting friends enjoying our time together..the weekend flew by. I drove Tom to the Bus Depot, where he would travel to Minneapolis, again, for his return trip. It wasn't as bad this time, because during his Labor Day trip, were also making plans for me to rent my house and join him in Virginia, and spend the last year of his military career together. These plans were to be put into action immediately, to take effect in October, just one short month away. We were stronger this time, and we said goodbye, knowing that one way or another in one short month, good byes would never have to be said again. I watched the bus pull out, and turned the car homeward, my mind clicking, plans already forming and smiling at the thoughts of winter, stormy weather, and October in Virginia, with Tom, the man I loved with all my heart.

SECOND MEETING... Tom's Story

I remember asking Dee, about a month prior to Labor Day, about visiting her in Superior, and she was so very happy to hear the idea of this. We needed some more time together, as we had many plans in the making; getting together was the medicine the doctor ordered for both of us at this time. We had talked about meeting at Christmas, but that was pretty far away, and I knew we had to see each other again, before then....

Dee booked me a flight on Northwest (unknown to me, that we would soon have fun working around a strike in the process of getting me to Superior...), and the idea, now a reality was in gear. As the days went by, we talked more and more of having Dee come to Virginia, to live with me, and spend the last year here, and them off to Superior after my military career is over in November 1999. The phone calls, the chats on the net, and many nights working on our lovely homepage, we were getting so close to each other, making plans for our lives together, and the idea of living together, was in the works. Day by day, it was becoming a reality, that Dee would be leaving Superior to join me and starting our lives together.

Then Northwest decided to do the unthinkable to our plans..go on strike!! Well, we had to start pulling strings to get me to Minneapolis now...and we were burning the candles at both ends, in to the wee hours to get "a flight" at all...Dee handled the matters of getting the bookings and flights arranged on her end, and I was visiting the Airport in D.C. on a very frequent basis trying to get a flight out. Finally, all our hard work got a flight (and a refund from Northwest...*s*) to Minneapolis, and I was off to see my love.

Dee drove down with Sandy to the airport in Minneapolis, and I met her on Saturday afternoon..and she was more lovely than the last time I saw her...there was no mistaking Dee and the big *smile*; we kissed and hugged all the way to Sandy's car. We arrived back at "our" house later that night, and after a little something to eat, relaxed with each other, a little wine, a movie or two, and my lovely lady in my arms...this was what the doctor ordered..finally after all the interference, we were with each other, I felt so relaxed with my Dee.. The time together was spent visiting her family, and talking more about Dee coming to Virginia in October...also, spending the needed time with her, getting to know her better, enjoying her company, and loving her more than ever...again the weekend seemed to go so fast, but after three wonderful days, we had a "plan". Dee was coming to Virginia to join me in October. We talked about everything needed for the move, from the trip itself to setting up our "new" home...we had all bases covered..now it was time to act on our "plans"...
