HOME FRONT
I survived my 65th in March, thanks be! Don t feel much older, except for the chasing back & forth to the medicos. Seems I have a bit of kidney disease. Under control, so don t fret!
Had hyper activity in the Spring - book promotions, etc. which I won't go into again. In June was at the Sons of Norway 5th Dist. convention in Arlington Hgts IL...work but enjoyable as I got to see lots of old/dear friends - esp those from Leif Erickson, Bj Bjornson & Skjold lodges in Chgo and environs. Special get-togethers were with Bev Altern and Julie Lea.
| In July/Aug dear friend Barbara Johnson Turner spent a couple weeks with me. We hit base with Bonnie Andrews Drake, Betty Anderson Peters, Jaci Little Peterson, Shirley Johnson Lindberg & Janice Hammer LaGesse.
On Sept 2 I hopped The Empire Builder, from Minneapolis to Seattle. WHAT A TRIP! Loved every minute - esp the scenery. It was especially joyful as I spent time with long-ago bank co-
worker MARITE BUTNERS, who lives on Bainbridge Island in Puget Sound. She is a fabulous/generous hostess, to say the least. I met a lot of wonderful new friends, together with another former bank employee Nora Roberts and many extremely interesting friends of Marite s. The last four days before my return Marite and I winged up to Anchorage, AL where we motored around and about - one day to Seward and another to Whittier. Did the Prince William Sound boat tour to see all the glaciers. FAB! The latter town is known as "The Strangest Town In Alaska." BOY, have they got THAT RIGHT! Check it out on the web! (enter "Whittier, AL" & you ll find it).
Now I ve settled back to work on book two - page 179 or so...going full speed. SOooo it ll be another few months before I check in again. Not to worry though, as I think about you all often! :O)
(Sorry I can t reproduce the pictures on the hard copy issue, as the colored shots just come out black and white...)
