Monika Schmidt was in serious trouble. Discipline at the Gottingen School for the Training of Young Ladies was very strict. All students were given a new yellow punishment card each Monday morning, which they were required to carry in the top left pocket of their navy blue uniform blazer, and on which punishments given during the week would be entered. The punishment for even the most trivial offence was 12 strokes of the cane. For a student who had already been caned twice on the buttocks within a single week, the rules specified that subsequent canings were to be applied each to a different area of the body, and that the student would strip completely for punishment in these cases.

It was a Sunday afternoon, and Frau Pranger, Monika's chemistry teacher, had just caught her outside of the school grounds without permission. Monika had already been caned every day since Monday - a rare but not unique occurrence in this school, but a personal first for her. Frau Pranger frowned as she looked at Monica's punishment card:

After Frau Pranger left, Monica smiled to herself at her achievement. Seven punishments in a week was a rare occurrence indeed, and would earn her long-desired esteem and respect in the eyes of her fellow pupils.
