Ajax this week:
Ajax at it's best.Again the conclusion after seeing a match with a dominating Ajax. But also an Ajax that took 4-1 as a good score, cause the chances were numberous and especially poor Machlas could not get his so wanted goals.You gotta feel sorry for the guy. After a lucky goal of Hamming in the 12th minute which made the score 0-1, Ajax started the show with goals in the 30th minute from Wamberto in the rebound and a clean hard shot from Knopper in the 33rd which meant the 2-1,nothing more to worry about this game. After the pause it was Laudrups time with two goals in 50th and 86th minute. They were very classy, so easy, so simple, but pure art. Ajax can be happy to have this man in the team. Around the game there was the honoration of 2 great keepers Ajax had, Menzo and Van der Sar, Ajacieden for life! This wednesday was a very comfortable one for Ajax. No damage and a relatively easy evening, in which Bobson left very early for Wamberto and Chivu came in for Winter to play his first competition match. Ajax was master of the field. And after a few good scores like this(3-1,3-6 and 4-1)it is not strange to think that Ajax only opponent is PSV, who also show great performances. Laudrup showed the class Ajax stands for.A true fear for opponents who have to play Ajax in the next weeks.
Ajax next week:Ajax will have to travel to Nijmegen sunday the 17th. Judging NEC's results so far this season this will be a delightful sundayevening. If there are no very big surprises and Ajax plays the same as this evening this will be a big victory for Ajax again. Another opponent which is useful to keep spirits up and continue the race with PSV. A sure win!

Rest of the competition:
In the middle of the week this 8th round showed who are really candidates for the championship and the name Feyenoord is no longer amongst them. They again played foolishly and weak and had a draw at home against Vitesse,0-0. It is obvious that that is something different than the 3-1 home victory from Ajax over Vitesse a few weeks ago. Even a Ajax-fan has to admit that PSV has quite the couple in the attack. Two phenomenal players, Nilis(3) and v.Nistelrooy(2) scored 5 of the 6 goals in PSV's away game against RKC(1-6), who obviously could not stand up against the third topclub(after having good results against Ajax and Feyenoord)Nistelrooy can bow over a 13 goal total in 8 games, superb. They are now in lead with only Ajax to fear. For the rest there was a win for Roda JC who is now in third place,1-2 in Rotterdam over Sparta. Willem II also won but not superior, Bombarda scored the only goal in the away match at Cambuur L and has the same amount of points as Roda JC. FC Twente won with 0-1 at NEC in Nijmegen and has the same amount as Feyenoord who is now in 6th place and after that it is Heerenveen,who is climbing up after a 1-0 win over FC Utrecht at home,and AZ with their 2-3 win in den Bosch.

Moment of the week:
Laudrups simple way to score is a real treat for the viewer. Every goal has its own story no lucky goals only real technical beauties. Knopper scored again and is becoming a superstar, at least in my eyes. And of course it was pure satisfaction over in my room when Feyenoord again could not win on tuesdayevening. They are pure poverty and it is a mystery how they can still think that they will continue their championship after this season, and it shows how much value their championship from last year really has. Not much spectacular moments in competition,only to see how confident Ajax is playing now is the most beautiful moment of this week. Where last season I had doubts in front of a game against Fortuna S., this week I was 100% confident in the win.Comparing this, we can see the progress Ajax is making.
