Ajax this week:
It had to happen one time, the winning streak was rudely interrupted on the misty fridaynight of the 29th of October. The assasin was Roda JC, the victim was Ajax. With Gronkjaer back in the basic team it was kind of unexpected. The pressure of being first in the league was something Ajax could not control in this match. The fact that out of all players Grim was the best, says a lot about the performance. Machlas and Laudrup were not in their best form and Knopper had an off-day as well. Very undeserved Ajax took the lead, in the 67th minute, with a header from Winter. Peeters 5 minutes later equalled the score 1-1, leaving Grim without a chance. But Ajax seemed to get away with a draw. However, in the last minute, the young defender Chivu had to pull the emergency brake just outside the penalty area. Broken-through player meant the first red card this season and a free kick. Kind of sad was the fact that the red card did not stop Roda JC from taking the full 3 points back to Kerkrade. Luypers placed the ball in the net. And so Ajax got his first loss of the season so far. But again, the win was not only the fault of Ajax weak defence but also of the great force that Roda JC showed in Amsterdam. A sad day for Ajaxfans who will now see the gap with PSV grow. If it would have been a unlucky loss it would have been acceptable, too bad though, it wasn't.
Ajax next week:Next week on November 7th Ajax visits Rotterdam for their away match against Sparta. With this sensitive loss Ajax will be motivated to show their fans that this was an exceptional game against Roda JC, Sparta seems the perfect weak opponent to do so. Things have to be really extraordinary if Ajax does not take the full win back from Rotterdam.
Note for Ajax: 5

Rest of the competition:
A strange round this 11th weekend, because of the Dutch Cup 2nd Round some clubs played on wednesday and so the games in the weekend are not numberous. Wednesday Heerenveen won with a 2-0 from de Graafschap establishing a very solid place in the subtop and putting de Graafschap in troubles.FC Twente joined Heerenveen in the win, they beat Sparta in a tough game for the squad from Enschede,a 3-2 home win, which also let them remain in the subtop.RKC was the last winner on wednesday, they beat weak NEC at home, 4-2 with Hoogendorp striking twice.
Sunday there was the game between Vitesse and FC Utrecht. Vitesse with no trainer after firing trainer Neumann on saturday, won with 3-1 in Arnhem. Van Hooydonk scored twice and brought his total on 13 and narrowing the gap with topscorer v.Nistelrooy to 3 in the afternoon. In the evening v.Nistelrooy had his turn and also scored 2 goals in PSV's awaymatch in Alkmaar against AZ and is now on 18 goals in 10 games, incredible. Bruggink scored after that and that put the final score 0-3 on the boards and puts PSV back in the lead, looking very strong. Feyenoord and Willem II play the last match of the 11th round on December 1st.

Moment of the week:

The first loss of the season gave the Ajaxfans little to cheer about. It was a strange round being spread over many days. But Luinge again showed his terrible referee'ing. That guy is totally unfit to lead matches. To consider that that is the only I can think of shows that this weekend was a boring one.
