Ajax this week: Tears in my eyes when I saw the once so mighty Ajax team play the PSV eleven this evening. So powerless, so defenceless, they were butchered by the Eindhoven butchers. But the butchers were not playing outstandingly, it was Ajax who surprised the fans with a terrible show of football. And PSV had paid attention to Ajax way of overwhelming Cambuur L. Ajax scored three times against Cambuur L and so PSV could not stay behind. The 6th minute came and van Bommel scored easily for PSV after showing the entire weak playing Ajaxdefence his heals. Being offside but not spotted by the(bad judging) referees, v.Nistelrooy could open his evening in the 12th minute finishing a pass from Bouma. In the 16th minute Chivu accidentaly stepped on a heal of an PSV-attacker and got too severely punished with a yellow card and a penalty against Ajax. Van Nistelrooy did not fail from 11 metres and scored the 3-0. After that the match was done for. No more good Ajax iniatives, no more chances, just attempts by the PSV squad to show galleryplay. And that was pretty embarassing. In the end of the game van Nistelrooy seemed to remember his hattrick in the match in Amsterdam and decided to add another goal to his list, in the 84th minute he outwitted all Ajaxplayers again to score his third of the evening, the 4-0 for PSV and his 26th goal this competition. Ajax was without any power to resist. The loss was to be expected, Ajax did not have the form to beat PSV at all, but a mercyless defeat like this is a big thing to handle for the fans. The board who was present at the game must have discussed this whole game thoroughly and hopefully see that this is the time for a change of trainers, or else this whole centennial celebration of the club Ajax can have a very dark black background... Next Ajax game: Sunday the 13th of February Ajax plays Willem II at home. If there has been no drastic changes in the Amsterdam eleven or another approach, this game is gonna be a tricky one for Ajax. But Willem II also has lost the form which they showed the last few seasons, in the year 2000 so far. I think the chances on a positive result for the Ajax scoreboard is about 60%. Note for Ajax this week: 2
Competition this week: Apart from the topmatch PSV-Ajax, Feyenoord eased a little further up, this time passing Ajax in the table, with a 2-3 win over Fortuna Sittard. Again it was very lucky, the 3 goals fell in the last 10 minutes after fumbling in the penaltyarea, but still the persistancy of the Rotterdam squad brought the team to the second place. AZ won very convincingly after a long period without wins, 4-0 home against Sparta. FC Twente settled next to Ajax on the fourth place by defeating RKC at home with a early goal by Vennegoor,1-0. Also Vitesse won over de Graafschap 3-1 and finally a longwaited win for Roda JC who beat FC Utrecht with 3-2 with Peeters scoring twice. Ajax moves to fourth place now, 1 point behind Heerenveen, 2 behind Feyenoord and 7 behind PSV(one match more played) Only good thing is that Ajax has now only a tough away match against Feyenoord(maybe FC Twente) ahead... Note for competition this week: 6
Moment of the week: Of course that has to be the critical situation at Ajax this moment. Both Danny Blind as the players-business director and Bobby Haarms as the conditiontrainer left Ajax behind them. A great loss of 2 great characters that gave Ajax its own character. Not sure, but suspecting a influence of Kales in all this, it is for sure that his head must roll and it has to be soon. The Ajaxfans are mobilized to give this commercial dog a real treat in forms of severe actions. Also it becomes almost impossible for the board to come up with reasons to save Wouters in his position as headcoach. The time for him to leave seems near. Second moment of the week has to do with honesty. It has to be admitted that van Nistelrooy is a great player, cause after scoring three times against Ajax in the away match and repeating that 3 goals in the home match, shows great skills and class. A bigtime talent for sure.
