Ajax this week:
The match between 2 topteams was a facade this season. On sundayafternoon they met eachother in Rotterdam. The level of the game overall was extermely low, the audience being the looser, like a lot of games this season. Feyenoord really came sharp and motivated out of the dressingrooms which lead to a strong openingstage for Feyenoord. But after missing a few big chances it was Ajax that scored out of the first attack. Laudrup passed goalie Dudek in the 11th minute. After that the game slipped back in the dubious level again. Referee Jol played a strange role throughout the match witholding penalties on both sides. But still Ajax reached halftime with 0-1 and had not a lot to worry about cause Feyenoord were not pushing too much. But still one little moment after halftime in the 48th minute when defenders lost Bosvelt out of sight and he scored the equalizer. The game stayed the same till the end, with only Arveladze wasting a very very big chance of scoring. After all, allthough I hoped for better result, the draw is the one and only logical result. Ajax next week: On April 30st, Ajax will play a very important match, the last tricky match of this seasons, away against Vitesse. That team is also still in the race for the third champions league place and is hard to beat in their own stadium. A game which is 50-50 cause both teams are under a lot of pressure Note for Ajax this week: 5
Competition this week: The championship of Holland is decided. PSV won against FC Twente fridaynight and insured itself of the title. With the defeat of FC Twente(1-3, with again 3 goals of Bruggink) a competitor for the third place lost. And also NEC won at home from Vitesse with 1-0 in a very bad game and Vitesse also could not take profit from the draw between Ajax and Feyenoord. AZ won and regained some points on the subtopteams, they beat MVV at home with 2-0. Down in the bottom of the league things are tensed. Cambuur won with 1-2 from Sparta and Den Bosch took a point from RKC(1-1) and both are 2 points behind MVV, the question who will relegate immediately is as exiting as the question of third place. Heerenveen won again, this time a good solid win over Roda JC at home(5-1) and look confident to become second in the league, now 5 points ahead with 3 easy games on the program.. Note for competition this week: 8
Moment of the week: The tension in the league at this moment is very high. The last champions league place and the question of relegation is still a big mystery. Just like last season when PSV reached the third place in the final minutes of the last game, this seasons ending is one big climax. Talking about PSV, they had a huge transfer this week. Ruud van Nistelrooy, a phenomenal attacker was sold to Manchester United for the price of 65 million guilders. I wonder what Ajax will do. With many good attackers in the Dutch league, like Vennegoor or Lurling, I can't imagine that they will not buy a replacement for Machlas who could not convince throughout an entire season. Adriaanse has a tough task to regain the teams form. NAC-trainer Cees Zwamborn joined the Ajax-staff as head of Youth, a function that was until now fullfilled by Hans Westerhof.Whatever the result may be, the league has 3 very interesting matches ahead.
=Willem ter Haar= (Confused that the Den Bosch-game wednesday had the same result as Feyenoord) |
