Ajax this week:
On the 17th grasslawn of this season Ajax honoured Bobby Haarms, the injury-recovery trainer,an Ajax member since 1947. But allthough he has seen a lot, this afternoon must have suprised him. A total disgrace showed itself in front of his eyes. A weak opponent got Ajax almost on its knees. MVV made it quite difficult for Ajax to get in the game. Gronkjaer,v.Halst,Witschge and Chivu showed some workingspirit, the rest sucked bigtime. Especially Arveladze and Grim seemed not even worthy of the Ajax-amateurs. Arveladze had no selfconfidence whatsoever and missed hopelessly every pass that came in front of the goal. Grim also was grabbing air instead of the ball and Ajax was very lucky that no goals were scored against them. And Arveladze was substituted by Wamberto in the second half but also this small Brasilian midget could not do any damage. Therefore it is typical that the victory in the end came to the Amsterdam 11 by a goal of a defender, Chivu scored in the rebound in the 85th minute. And that meant that Champions League(how undeserved it may be)is still possible with a big truckload of luck next week. After the game Bobby Haarms got a farewellsalute in Ajax-style. Fireworks, showing of emotions made the afternoon worthy to remember, not the poor result, cause I wish Bobby that he only will remember the farewell, not the game... Ajax next week: So next week, on Sunday May 14th this season of hell ends in the town where I live, where Ajax plays FC Utrecht. This game is crucial especially when other competing teams loose in the other games. Ajax has to breathe one more time deeply and give their best, and they will have a small chance of winning. FC Utrecht is not the worlds strongest footballteam, so about 50% chances of winning. Note for Ajax this week: 5
Competition this week: With PSV solid at first place, Heerenveen joined the Eindhoven team in the Champions League for next season. With a poor 1-1 draw at home against a fierce fighting(against relegation) FC Den Bosch they secured the 2nd place in the table. The third place is still all open. Feyenoord won in Nijmegen from NEC with a 0-2 victory and Vitesse terminated AZ dreams of European football in Alkmaar with a 0-1 win through a goal from van Hooydonk. Feyenoord is now in 3rd place with 1 point gap with Vitesse and 2 points to Ajax.Feyenoord has a tough game home against FC Twente ahead of them, last team won their game today against Graafschap with 4-0. To play European football FC Twente should win in Rotterdam next week. Champion PSV won,in Rotterdam from Sparta with a 0-2 but it had little significance More important was the win from Cambuur L at Willem II(1-4) which put Den Bosch in a very tough position. Note for competition this week: 6
Moment of the week: Again a tribute to Foppe de Haan who reached the Champions League with Heerenveen, astonishing and I wish them the best of luck next year. Ajax signed Czech international Tomas Galasek for next season. This midfielder is a solid player but 1 player can't make the difference. At the beginning of this season Ajax also invested a lot, and we all know where that lead Ajax. As a last item, I would like to bring on the question whether this homepage should be continued next season. If you are a regular visitor of this page and like it, than please write me an Email in which you tell me why you like it and if you want it to continue. If I get little or no reply this page will probably stop when the season is over. So MAIL ME
=Willem ter Haar= (Kind of badtempered because what seemed to be Champions League now is turning out to be UEFA Cup next season) |
