In a world full of people
we walk this journey alone
It doesn't always mean
that we have an empty home
When we share the love we feel
It should be gentle and complete
Not a chain around your throat
or a binding on your feet
Love is very simple and
a thing that we all need
not controlling, nor confining
never jealous or with greed
Love is gracious and accepting
not demanding or aloof
it is patient, kind and hopeful
always striving for the truth
When we give our love to others
without expecting a return
the sun that lights our path in life
is our own and will not burn
To try to walk the path of life
alone and standing tall
if love is not a part of it
eventually we'll fall
So while we need to grow in life
self-worth expanding as we go
if love is not a part of it
there is nothing left to know
