Today is the day that summer officially begins! In three days, I will be leaving for Hawaii and will be spending a month of my summer there. Although I'll be there on business, I can't think of a better place to work over the summer. =)

Looking back on May, it was a pretty busy month. The day after my last final exam happend to be my cousin Matt's 22nd birthday. He came to L.A. from Ohio for a visit after graduating from college, where he finished his last year as the student body president. He is spending this summer interning at the White House and we are all so proud of him!

Several days after seeing Matt off at the airport, I started my first-ever non-paid job at the L.A. County District Attorney's Office. Below is the official badge that, ironically, let all know I wasn't an 'official.' =)

As I am writing this, my husband is complaining that I don't post up enough pictures of him. Since he asked for it, here it is:

I call this, "Karaoke man with gold teeth glinting in each corner."
I wonder how long it will be 'til he finds out about this... Hehe! =P

Back in November, I saw on the news that a pair of Sumatran Tigers were born at the L.A. Zoo. Being an animal lover, I had to see the exotic pair for myself, so I managed to convince my husband that we needed to make yet another trip to the L.A. Zoo. When we got there, the mother and both cubs were napping in the shade so there wasn't much to observe, but it was nevertheless a novel thing to see Sumatran Tiger cubs for the first time in my life. Below are pictures of the mother and a cub, along with others we took at the zoo last November.

The mother Sumatran Tiger. I was surprised to see her resting at a distance from her cubs,
but someone explained that she was deliberately keeping her distance to train her cubs to find her.

A close-up of one of the cubs.

Rhino's "got back."

Female gibbons are white in color, while males are dark in color. These two were a much-devoted couple,
and were quite "inseparable," causing a young child to protest, "Ew!" His dad's answer? "Just look away, son."

Season's Greetings from the L.A. Zoo.
