Ah, yes, Wog Day... a day when those who have never experienced crossing the equator (a.k.a. "wogs") are inducted into the ranks of salty sailors who have traveled up and down the equator (a.k.a. "shellbacks") and befriended King Neptune. In less flowery imagery, Wog Day consisted of a full day of wog "initiation," ranging from getting various condiments (i.e., peanut butter, lard, ketchup, mustard, tabasco sauce, soy sauce, sauer kraut, raw eggs, etc.) smeared on your head or down your back and sliding through globs of leftover food, to getting hosed down with a saltwater hose while trying to keep the tabasco from getting in your already puffy eyes. Those who come through to the end appear before King Neptune's court and are appointed "trusty shellbacks" thereafter. Here are some pictures from the ceremony--enjoy!
