Dispatch system NCIC FCIC does not automatically run warrants and DL when a tag is entered into our system like it does for the officers/deputies on their computer. BOTH SYSTEMS DIFFER
The HTE mobile data units used in the patrol cars are far better and easier to use than the current HTE system dispatch uses to obtain information on Tags, Driver License, warrants and criminal histories.
A officer/deputy can enter a TAG to request owners name and stolen request on their mobile computer system and their system then automatically runs the DL (drivers license) and 1049's (warrants.)
The system used by dispatch to do NCIC/FCIC is not so user friendly.
Each request has to be typed in and entered for each request, To obtain registration, the Tag or VIN it must be entered. The system that is used by 911 does not automatically run the 1038 (DL) or 1049's (warrants.)

DL info has to be entered by typing the name and dob into the screen.
Warrants: The name and DOB must be typed into the screen to get the info back.

YES, WE WONDER WHY SINCE IT IS ALL HTE, HOWEVER THAT ARE VERY DIFFERENT AND ONLY ONE FUNCTION CAN BE CARRIED OUT AT A TIME. IT IS NOT A WINDOWS BASED SYSTEM, THAT ALLOWS SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS AT ONCE.
IF WE ARE RUNNING SOMETHING, WE CAN NOT SEE THE SCREENS TO GET THE ADDRESS FROM THE CALL THAT WAS JUST GIVEN OUT ON THE MAIN, CAN NOT PULL IT UP UNTIL WE ARE FINISHED ENTERING THE INFO. IF WE GET A HIT BACK ON A PERSON, WE CAN ONLY VIEW THAT AND CAN NOT CHECK A SCREEN FOR "DID THE COMPLAINTANT WANT CONTACT"
IF 1028, AND DL AND WARRANTS ARE NEEDED YOU WILL NEED TO ASK FOR SUCH. WITH THE MOBILE UNITS WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU MAY HAVE ALREADY RAN AND WHAT YOU NEED.
SO DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU ASK FOR A 1028 AND THAT IS ALL YOU GET, THAT'S ALL YOU ASKED FOR. COMMUNICATION CENTERS RUN MUCH BETTER WHEN WE COMMUNICATE OUR REQUEST.

If the DL is filed with the DL office using a persons middle name or initial, the middle name or initial must be used when running to obtain it. Please assertain all the required information needed. If you have all the required information the first time, you can be on your way much quicker and it makes it easy for us also.
For the few people who actually
KNOW, they can do a better job of dispatching. I am extending a warm, friendly invitation to come out and do it.
Requirements are as follows:
*Listen to 3 channels all at once.
*Copy the infomation exactly as given at the speed of light.
*Answer all incoming phone calls for pager numbers, home phone numbers and lunch requests.
*Make all required phone calls ie,
air units, k-9's, highway patrol,
and complaintant to step out.
*Research information on calls when no one else took time to do.
*Eat and talk at the same time without a 45 min lunch break.
Take all the crap that rolls downhill, and feel unappreciated.
