My Views and tips

I find fishing to be very relaxing and also enjoy the quiet time that it allows me to have. I use the time for prayer and reflection on life's matters. It seems that when I am fishing I am able to come up with the solution to problems that I could not come up with in any other environment. It is during my fishing that I feel closer to God and allow God to work on me. I would encourage anyone to try fishing to get away from some of the earthly problems that seem to plague them. I would love to hear from others on fishing and tips on techniques. I will be the first to admit that I am not the world's greatest fisherman but I sure enjoy it.

My Grandfather George Chartier once said "you can give someone that is hungry a fish and they will eat for a day, but if you teach them how to fish they will eat for a lifetime". I can attest to that old saying. During my earlier days in the Navy I remember a time when we had very little income and I purchased a fishing pole and basic gear. I went fishing every other night and always came home with enough fish to feed my family. I thank my Grandfather for teaching me how to fish and to provide for my family. He was a very wise man and I miss him greatly, I wish that my children could have met him. In the future I will share other fishing stories about my Grandfather.

Another Fishing Tale

I remember one day, when I was about 9 years old, My grandfather took me fishing along with my father on the Ware River in Massachusetts. We were fishing for Bullhead. Well, it was pretty quiet when all of a sudden my grandfather started catching one Bullhead after another. The unique thing about these fish is that there was something wrong with each one. A fin missing, a whisker missing, half a tail, you name it. I questioned him about it and all he told me was that most people run into schools of fish, he is the only one to ever catch the hospital of fish. This is just another one of the moments that I will never forget about my Grandfather Chartier.
