From the outside, the MiG-17 'Fresco' looks a lot like its predecessor, the MiG-15 the MiG-17 is an up engined and up gunned version. The MiG-17 is faster, and a lot more stable the MiG-15. MiG-17's saw action in Vietnam. Although totally outclassed by everything but the F-84F. The MiG-17 did capture a few lucky kills. Continuing with Soviet doctrine the MiG-17 is cheap, light and very easy to mass produce.
