The MiG-19 'Farmer' was the Soviet Union's first operational Jet fighter. While similar the to the MiG-17 'Fresco' the MiG-19 is a new design with two tumansky engines and an incredible wing sweep the MiG-19 is roughly equivalent to the American F-100 Suber Sabre thought the F-100 had more complex avionics, the MiG-19 is more maneuverable and heavily armed. One of the main downfalls to the MiG-19 was the elevator when traveling at transonic speed the elevators had a tendency to fail resulting in the loss of the aircraft. The problem was later rectified with the addition of an all-moving tail surface. The MiG-19 appeared to late to see action in the Korean conflict but did see action in the Vietnamese conflict. Although outclasses the MiG-19's did score some victories against their American counterparts.
