The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-31 'Foxhound'

The World's Greatest Interceptor

The MiG-31 'Foxhound
MiG-31 'Foxhound' From Jeremy Harkin's Military Aircraft Archive

The Mikoyan MiG-31 ‘Foxhound' is a development of the MiG-25 ‘Foxbat'. The Foxhound has larger engines and is truly huge, the Foxhound carries AA-9 ‘Amos' ultra long AAM's. This platform/missile combination is almost as effective as the F-14 Tomcat/AIM-54c Phoenix. The Foxhound has advanced data modems and a powerful look-down shoot-down radar. The MiG-31 is truly the world's greatest interceptor, no western equivalents really exist the closest equivalent is the retired Convair F-106 Delta Dart
