Welcome to my page about our animals. Some people say we need to charge admission but we don't think so. We know several people that have more animals than we do. Plus it is worth it just to see the looks on peoples faces either of awe or disgust. LOL There will also be actual pictures of Zoo animals from the Indianapolis Indiana Zoo towards the bottom. Most of our animals were given to us or else we probably wouldn't have any. LOL Thank you to those of you who were good enough to give them to us. As for some of the facts I have added in here, if there is anything that is wrong or has changed let me know so I can update it. Thanks.
This little guy here is a chinchilla and we have named him Chili. He is our most recently acquired animal. From the things I have read he is a rodent and is native of the Andes Mountains in South America. He is an absolutely adorable animal and incredibly soft. He has more hair folicles per square inch than any animal on this planet. That is why his fur is so soft and his pelt so sought after. It takes about 60 chinchillas to make a full length fur coat. I am not some bleeding heart environmentalist but it sickens me to know this. There are over 1 million chinchillas in farms being raised for there fur.
These fella's here are Cockatiels. We originally started out with just the white one (or Lutino). Then someone we know gave us the other two grays. We love them to death but when they start whistling it is enough to drive you nuts. LOL From left to right we have Phoenix, Bam Bam, and Pebbles. The males generally have the bright orange spots on there cheeks where as females are a little softer in color.
This here is N.V. as in green with... envy. He is actually a Blue Iguana I believe because of the light blue color on his cheeks. He loves to sun and get misted with the water bottle. In this picture he is obviously showing off for the camera or a daring escape attempt. The tube light is a Vita-Lite and the heat lamp is to provide him with the warmth he needs. He loves to crawl around on the couch and likes to climb the drapes.
This is my daughter and her friend that came over. They love playing with the snakes. They are 2 ball pythons. Creeper is the female (L) and Rocky(R) the male. These guys eat mice and are quite entertaining to watch eat. Maybe in the future I will add some eating pics for those that aren't squimish. They are great pets and unfortunately everyone has a problem with snakes. My kids love playing with these guys.
This page will contain some picture from our March 98 trip to the Zoo. We will be taking more trips to the Zoo this year and I will be adding.
