Mikael Pettersson was
our first Foreign Exchange
Student and he was from Akersberga, Sweden.
Mikael was a typical Swede Blond
Hair, Blue eyed and Tall. Mikael
was 6'6" tall. But we will tell you this
boy can that boy eat. While Mikael stayed
with us Mikael participated in School Play (Charlotte's Web). He also
was the School
Mascot during Football Season. Swear to god Mikael looked like the cartoon character
Popeye. Actually it took a lot of guts to do something like that really. Mikael played
sports as well. He was on Senior Varsity in Basketball. Mikael won several awards during
his year here. He was
elected for being on Fairport Harbor Honor Society. Throughout the
year of Mikael being here with he has made several friends. He participated at the local
YMCA doing weight lifting of all kinds. Mikael's family arrived for his graduation
ceremony and his family is one of the friendliest people we met so far. It was great
having his family here to see what all Mikael has done throughout the year. For Mikael
being our first exchange student we have learned allot of
what to to and what not to do
with these students. He taught us a lot. Do we stay in contact with each other. We do now
after 3 years of silence. We have a lot of catching up to do after all this time has
passed. And it is good to have all our boys back it really is. Far as we are concerned
nothing has changed but were
older now.
Think the best times we had with Mikael was playing pool and watching him grow up from a teenager to a man. Thinking back of that year and just realizing what we had and hopefully still have.
A few months has passed and Mikael and us have been writing back and forth now. So I'm glad that this has worked out. As of now Mikael is attending a University in Sweden and he is doing quite well for himself. As time went by things did heal. And to be very honest with you so, were so proud of Mikael more now than ever before. Who knows maybe when we go over there we will have the chance to see him and his family once again.
What is Mikael doing now? Well Mikael attends a University but he is majoring in I have no idea right now. Also from what we know Mikael works during the Winter months in Salen, Sweden doing what he just loves to do at a Ski Resort. That is Skiing. But Mikael also is a bartender in Orebro Sweden. So you see that boy is doing quite well for himself.
When Mikael was here his parents Leif and Birgitta visited us here in Fairport. But when I was in Sweden I stayed with them in their home. Had the best time of my life being there. Mikael also has a younger brother named Mattias who is serving in the Swedish Army now.
