Our fourth Exchange Student is Tomas Pernicka.  He is from the city of Olomouc, Czech Rep. Tomas was shy as well as the other students. His knowledge of English was limited. There was a lot that he didn't understand. Tomas's attitude about things was great. Back home he was a Triathlon and #2 for his age group back home. He entered a contest here a 2K mile run. He came in second place out of everyone that participated. While Tomas was here he played in Basketball, Baseball. His grades wasn't that bad but then again he didn't understand all that much. He had a very decent outlook on life in general. He had a lot of good friends here. And know he still talks to each of them today. Tomas and I took a trip to Washington DC together and did we have fun. We stayed with someone his family at home knew that lives in DC. Tomas loves to party. Really what teenager doesn't do that today. He loves skiing, swimming. And of course music and girls. Was Tomas successful here well would have to say yes. The previous students we had here and what they accomplished here. Tomas had a hard time there for awhile. Kids here compared Tomas to Thomas or Johan. It isn't right but that is the way it goes. Our Friendship with Tomas is strong today. He is back home now and going to a University in Olomouc.

The best thing with Tomas is that he is so kind hearted and cares about people in general. He is another one that has things that you normally don't see in teenagers. But this guy is very special. And one thing is for sure he is going to make a good husband and father one day and the girl who gets him is very lucky. Tomas has his parents Jarsolav and Jirina and a younger brother named Vit.

Tomas is doing well for himself today. He now intending Olomouc University and majoring in Teaching. He has one year left to get his degree in teaching. Matter of fact he is going to be teaching Deaf Students. So it that isn't a achievement nothing is. Along with going to school Tomas still goes out and parties quite a lot. Nothing wrong with that really. Been there done that! So as you can see it has been what 6 years since we have seen this guy and we still keep in touch with each other over the years. Guys it is called Love it really. Still talk to each other after this time, makes what we do worth while it really does.  So Tomas when you read this and I know you will soon, you are still loved by Michelle and I A Lot.

Well Tomas came back for a visit and guys we had a great of fun with Tomas. Has he changed during the last 5 years well of course he did. He is much older now and he is not a boy anymore.  He stayed for 2 months the entire summer. He also worked while he was here some. We did a lot of things together and he was here when Johannes came to us. Tomas left to return to the Czech Rep now and it was pretty sad at the airport. Know I choked up some. But the hardest thing is this, Tomas lives so far away and who really knows when we will be together again. That is the hardest part of letting these students go.  But we also know that we will see Tomas again there is no doubt about that at all. The feelings after 5 years is still there and it is so genuine. It is called Love that is for sure. We miss Tomas and thinking a lot about him and Michelle and I wish him the best of luck and We Love You Tomas.....
