UNIT/LOCATION: 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron, CFB Bagotville, Quebec, Canada

RANK: Captain/Major
AFSC: K11F3Z (Fighter Pilot)

TOUR LENGTH: 30 months (2 years, plus 6 months CF-18 Training at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta)

DUTY TITLE: CF-18 Pilot/CF-18 Instructor Pilot

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Maintains combat readiness status in the squadron's assigned roles. The squadron's primary mission is air-to-air in support of NORAD's Canadian alert commitment. Designs and implements training programs in air intercept, air combat training, and air-to-air and air-to-ground gunnery. Maintains proficiency in all flying phases and applied phases such as air combat, ground attack tactics, and weapons deliveries. Subject to the experience and capabilities of the exchange officer, there may be opportunities for duties as Flight Commander, Weapons Officer, or in such areas as flight safety, instrument pilot, or life support equipment. Annual flying program consists of 210+ hours and about a 60/40 split in air-to-air and air-to-ground training. Upgrade to instructor pilot takes approximately one year. This is a French speaking position requiring the exchange officer to understand and conduct briefings in French.

TYPE/LOCATION/DATES OF TRAINING REQUIRED:

Upon completion of language training, member will attend Advanced Fighter Pilot Course (approximately 6 months) at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta, then Combat readiness training at CFB Bagotville, Quebec.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

ESSENTIAL:
a. Current tactical fighter experience.
b. French language qualification: at least conversational fluency--attendance at Defense Language Institute to (type and length to be determined by candidate's qualifications).
c. 1000 hrs as an instructor pilot/mission commander.

DESIRABLE:
a. Strong background involving LGBs and Mavericks.
b. Fighter Weapons School graduate.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Top Secret.
