TOUR LENGTH: 30 months

DUTY TITLE: Deputy Chief, Instrument Check Pilot Flight/Chief of Academics

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

As Chief of Academics, leads a select team of 7 instructors and is responsible for scheduling and quality control of 630 hours of academic instruction and 600 hours of flight instruction yearly. Provides in-flight and classroom instruction during 4-week graduate flying program for Canadian Forces (CF), NATO and Transport Canada flight evaluator pilots. Manages and instructs initial and recurring training for staff instructors. Authors parts of CF instrument flight manual and oversees its annual publication. Oversees instrument approach design and approval programs. Develops instrument procedures courseware for all CF flight-training bases. Conducts flight instruction, maintains proficiency in the C-90 King Air.

TYPE/LOCATION/DATES OF TRAINING REQUIRED:

4-weeks Instrument Check Pilot Course, CFB Winnipeg, Manitoba and 4-weeks C-90A Conversion Course.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

ESSENTIAL:
a. Hold a current USAF instrument rating.
b. High level of instrument flight procedural knowledge and experience.
c. Minimum of one-year experience as a flight examiner.

DESIRABLE:
a. Graduate of the USAF Advanced Instrument School.
b. Instrument Refresher Course (IRC) instructor experience.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Secret.
