The 5 years of World War II saw many battles in which many lives were lost. The most important battles seem also to be the bloodiest. These bloody battles also were the turning points of World War II.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(10.)MARKET-GARDEN- Kept the Germans in the war. If Allies had won, early victory.
(9.)EL ALAMEIN- Basically, the turning point of the desert war.
(8.)MIDWAY- Prevented further Japanese infringement into US territory. Japanese lost 4 carriers.
(7.)KURSK- Destroyed the German panzerwaffe. It was straight to Berlin for the Soviets.
(6.)BULGE- Dragged out the war. Could have dragged out longer if Allies had not won.
(5.)STALINGRAD- Destoryed the whole German 6 Army. Major blow to the Germans.
(4.)OVERLORD- Opening of the Western Front. Germans couldn't fight a two front war.
(3.)MOSCOW '41- If the Germans had beat the Soviets, where would the world be today?
(2.)BATTLE OF BRITAIN- Kept the Brits in the war. Could the Soviets have gone it alone?
(1.)FRANCE '40- Germans defeated the French. None of these other battles would have taken place if France had not been defeated.
