This unit was created on February 13th., 1982. It is composed of approximately 50 people, they have a phisycs and psyquics conditions over the average, what is achieved after a rigorous selection and intensive training in the Special Training Center. Their equipment is the most modern and sophisticated in the Spanish Army: Rugger 44 rifle, UZIs, Mauser and Winchester with telescopic view, Heckers, etc.
They wear the usual black uniform, according with the night missions they perform. Because of security reasons, they don't wear any ID or badge that identifies them as UEI members.
The Special Training Center was creeated on August 6th., 1980 for the selection of the personnel to special courses, their instruction and experimentation with the most advanced material, techniques and resources, as well as the preparation, specialization and training in anti-terrorist and subversive fight.
During 1997, two special facts has permitted the spanish people to have notice of their existence, both of them relationed with ETA, one of Dirty Thirty: the freedom for José Antonio Ortega Lara and the disintegration of the Bizkaia commando. These two direct hits against the terrorist band and their allies have supposed, once again, a verbiage of absurdity and nosense against all the people who conform the Guardia Civil, who, with their labor, help that Spain be a quiet country.
