I liked into a cave...looked around till I found the linking book...Yes! I had remembered....It linked to my fathers study...I pressed my hand on the page and linked...
As I linked into the study, a sight befell my eyes more horrid than I had ever seen. My own father, lying dead on the floor, his hands grasping his throat as if choking. A thick brown paste covered everything. What had happened? I wondered. "Who did this father?" I asked, though I knew he would not answer. I kneeled beside him. A tear ran down my cheek.
"Goodbye, my father. May you find peace in the next age, and may Yavo, the Maker, recieve your soul." I whispered to him, closing his eyes with my hands. I removed his golden Chemist's Guild ring and placed it on a chain around my neck, as to never forget what my father gave to the Chemist's Guild..both through me and through himself. I exited his study and entered the main part of the house. I found my sister and mother, dead, lying in the kitchen..the had been preparing dinner when it occured.
I exited my house and stepped out into the J'Taeri district square. From there I could see the devastation that had befallen D'ni. In my anger and sorrow I let loose a scream..The word "No!" yet it rose in pitch and volume till it was little more than a scream of sorrow. To my utter surprise, my scream was answered by one of pure joy. I turned in the direction of the scream. A young girl was running towards me. As she approched I noticed her plain brown cloak, trimmed in light blue. Junior Guildsman, Surveyors.
"Your....alive!! You...your alive...." She exclaimed. She must have noticed the bright green and gold of my Chemist's cloak and realized I was a Guild Master, for she stopped dead in her tracks and lowered her eyes.
"Shorah, Nava." She said. Greetings, master. "Thoe Kenem?" She continued. How are you?
"Shorah, I am fine...are there others?" I answered.
"Yes, Master! There are others!" She replied, lifting her head. I could see now that she was an attractive young girl, maybe 60, 65 years old...Not that younger than I.
