Located near international shipping lanes in the South China Sea and 120 kilometers north of Manila, the Subic Bay Naval Base was a natural harbor surrounded by hills, forest and white sandy beaches. The Seventh Fleet moved out in 1992, bringing with it George Dewey High School.

George Dewey High School was the on base high school. The children of families that were stationed at the naval base went to this high school. Every student who went to the high school had one thing in common. They were in a strange (different) land where people spoke a different language. It took time to get used to. The customs, the people, the land. The students looked to each other for support. We all had a common bond. We would go to places like the teen center, the movies, and out in town.

Today, while others are saying "hey, I just ran across an old school buddy" or "my high school reunion is coming up", the people who attended George Dewey High School don't even have a school left. For me, there was always something missing. I thought I would never see any of my old school buddies again. I always wondered what happened to them. When we graduated, unlike local schools, we came back to the states. We are located all over the United States. It seemed like an impossible task to find even one old buddy.

Fortunately, while surfing the internet one day, I searched for George Dewey High School. I found a web page with many of my friends listed on it. After talking with a few of them, we decided to create a reunion. Although everyone who attended George Dewey High School has their own life and family now, it is our hopes that we can bring everyone together again and keep in touch. It was tough to lose touch with everyone. We have spent many hours trying to locate people. We have found people that don't have access to a computer and people who have not had contact with anyone from George Dewey High School since they returned to the states. Although our school is gone, the memories live in our hearts.
